Three days is a good amount of time for Bantayan. It's enough for a day on the water, an evening sail and a look at the island's quieter side, without rushing. This plan assumes you arrive from Cebu on day one and leave on the afternoon of day three, and it keeps each day loose enough to swap things around for weather.
Before you go
- Where to stay: Santa Fe. It's where the ferry docks, where most resorts and beaches are, and where our tours start.
- Getting around: tricycles go almost everywhere on the island, and motorbikes can be rented in Santa Fe.
- Getting there: a bus from Cebu North Bus Terminal to Hagnaya Port, then the ferry to Santa Fe. See how to get to Bantayan from Cebu City.
- When to go: November to May has the calmest seas for boat trips. See the best time to visit Bantayan.
Day 1: Arrive and sail into the sunset
Leave Cebu early. A bus by about 8:00 AM gets you to Hagnaya in time for an early-afternoon ferry and into Santa Fe by mid-afternoon. Check in, drop your bags and get your feet in the sand.
Late in the afternoon, head out on the water. Our Sunset Paraw Sailing trip leaves from Santa Fe Beach at around 4:15 PM for an hour on a traditional double-outrigger sailboat, with no engine, just wind. It's the easiest possible first evening: walk down to the beach, and you're back on the sand in time for dinner.

Day 2: Virgin Island and the sandbars
Spend the day on the water. Virgin Island is a narrow strip of white sand off the coast of Bantayan, with clear, shallow water around it and snorkeling on the coral gardens just off the sandbar.
On our Virgin Island Hopping tour, a private bangka and local crew take you out from Santa Fe, with snorkeling gear and a guide. Lunch is a seafood BBQ on the beach: fresh catch grilled over an open fire. Quieter neighbours like Hilantagaan and Kintarkan can sometimes be added on the same day.

Back on land, keep the evening easy. If you still have energy for a sunset, Paradise Beach on the island's northwestern tip is a local favourite, about 15 to 20 minutes from Santa Fe by tricycle or motorbike.
Day 3: The island's quieter side
Spend your last morning on land, then catch an afternoon ferry. Pick two of these, depending on how early you like to start:
- Obo-ob Mangrove Garden: raised bamboo walkways through a community-run mangrove forest in Maricaban, about 20 to 25 minutes from Santa Fe. Go early, around 6 to 8 AM, for the birds.
- Sts. Peter and Paul Church: one of the oldest churches in Cebu, built from coral stone, in Bantayan town about 30 minutes from Santa Fe. Morning light is best; avoid Sunday mornings during mass. The town market is next door.
- Ogtong Cave: a cold, clear freshwater pool inside a limestone cave on the Santa Fe shoreline, a short tricycle ride from town. Best before 9 AM.
Ferries back to Hagnaya leave Santa Fe until late afternoon. Give yourself a buffer: you still have a bus ride of four to five hours to Cebu City after the crossing.
Got a fourth day?
Add one of these before you head home:
- Kalanggaman: our Kalanggaman Day Trip crosses to Leyte for one of the most photographed sandbars in the Philippines. It's a long day, with pick-up at around 5:00 AM and back by about 7:00 PM, so plan it for a day with nothing else on.
- Malapascua: further north and built around thresher shark diving. Read Malapascua vs Bantayan to see if it's worth the extra travel day.
- A slow day: Bantayan rewards doing very little. Swim, read, eat, repeat.
